How to Master Emotions in the Workplace

Failure to address emotions in the workplace shows up in stress, illness and sick days. The impact on organizations due to difficulty concentrating, reduced productivity, health care costs, and customer complaints about poor service are enormous. The resulting financial cost is huge.

The more comfortable we are with our feelings, the more relaxed we are. The more relaxed we are, the safer people feel with us and the more easily customers and colleges can connect with us. Without clarity about our emotions, our actions and words can be confusing. Work relationships can be threatened. We control our emotions or they control us.

Lack of skill at constructively managing emotional situations outside of work can cause difficulty concentrating at work and interfere with performance.
